Emerald Faerie

Contemporary lighting designer

London based, Fiona Gall, is a contemporary lighting designer that founded her company, Emerald Faerie in 1999. Inspired as a young girl by the beautifully illustrated birds of paradise and botanical drawings that her Father brought home from work, Fiona’ s love of illustrating such heavenly creatures took her to study Art and Design and then onto Hereford where she took a degree in Design Craft.

Fiona has mainly been creating bespoke lighting pieces for private and commercial clients in the UK, Europe and the USA. Many of Emerald Faerie’s collections are inspired by the periods of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, the completeness of the styles, from interiors to illustrations. Baroque, grand homes, churches, wild nature, Japanese flower arranging, woodblock prints and pen & ink drawings, the illustrations of Arthur Rackham, Brian Froud, Jessica Macbeth, to the legends of King Arthur.

Each one of Fiona’s handcrafted creations is a unique piece of functional art, enhancing the atmosphere and beauty of her clients’ spaces. Trawling auction rooms across the globe she uses her magpie magic for found objects to source a variety of unusual antique objects such as, glass and sparkling vintage diamante pieces, which she then combines with wire, glass tubing and sheet metals, to create opulent chandeliers, large sculptural plant forms and delicate hand bag shaped light pieces and lingerie inspired wall lights. Her unique method of construction allows her to integrate objects that have historical or sentimental importance to her clients into her pieces, giving each one a truly bespoke quality.
