Jessica Rawlings

Illustrator of all things funny, cute and strange

Jessica Rawlings is an artist/illustrator living in Sheffield with a Distinction Level MA in Design and a First Class Honours Degree in Illustration.

Jessica’s work is inspired through the act of wandering in the environment and encompasses her encounters that were both seen and heard along a journey.

The artist is prominently interested in illustrating animals and objects that are seen in their natural habitat; Jessica’s favourite places to feel inspired are at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Doncaster Wildlife Park and Chatsworth House. Through visiting these places it provides the artist with the inspiration to create rich imagery, which aims to heighten people’s own experience of the world and encourage them to explore new places for themselves.

Inspired by her surroundings, the artist incorporates her encounters, overheard conversations and snatches of dialogue heard along a journey. The conversations and dialogue in the work were documented by using a Dictaphone and a note book, which Jessica carries around with her at all times. By combining the senses of sight and sound into the work, it provides the viewer with a more engaging, insightful and stimulating experience.

Jessica specialises in digital prints, screen prints, lino prints, collage and 3D paper cut outs. She also has a good working knowledge in using digital software such as, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

Jessica is always happy to work with new people on new commissions, please do not hesitate to contact her directly to discuss potential projects.
