Piers Atkinson

Piers Atkinson has worn nearly as many hats as he’s made. Artist, illustrator, milliner, costume designer, party organiser, fashion editor and now DJ! – his creative energies only seem to be matched by an insatiable curiosity. 

Piers launched his first collection of hats in February 2008 and has created collections every season since. He has collaborated with designers Ashish, Ashley Isham and Noki for runway presentations and has dressed such celebrities as Anna Dello Russo, Kate Moss, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Kelis, Cate Blanchett and Paloma Faith. The Princesses of York and Dame Shirley Basey have worn his hats at Ascot and he has had pieces in the V&A’s ‘Hats: an Anthology by Stephen Jones’ and ShowStudio’s exhibition ‘The Café’.

All Piers Atkinson designs are hand-made in his East London studio by a team of craftspeople, milliners and makers. 

Piers Atkinson works with a variety of materials; silk flowers, feathers, felt, straw and veiling to create his bespoke pieces, using traditional methods of blocking, colourmatch dyeing, steaming and sewing. However the designs are renowned for their use of unexpected and unusual materials including hand-made pom-poms, Swarovski encrusted artificial fruit, toys and even glitter unicorns. 

As Atkinson's bespoke hats are made specifically to your requirements you are guaranteed to have an exclusive, one-off designer piece created only for you. Prices start at £450 which includes fittings at the studio in East London or at any location in the city. We suggest leaving three to four weeks for us to complete an order, although we can discuss a shorter time span.
